Project Background
Geological exploration on Rogozna dates back to the 1950s, when the Yugoslav Geological Institute first conducted exploration for lead, zinc, and silver resources. Modern exploration activities have been ongoing since 2004, with several international companies exploring the area for gold and other metals over the past two decades.
Mining has also been present in the region for many years. The nearby Crnac lead-zinc-silver mine has operated continuously since the 1970s, providing long-term employment opportunities and contributing to local economic development.
Current Exploration Phase
Zlatna Reka Resources is currently conducting exploration activities only. There are no plans to develop a mine at this stage. The ongoing work is focused on determining whether sufficient mineral resources exist to potentially support a future project that would meet strict environmental and sustainability standards.
Environmental Responsibility
All drilling materials used during exploration have been independently tested by accredited laboratories and confirmed to contain no harmful substances. The measured values showed very low levels, far below the reference values considered safe under both international and Serbian standards. These materials are classified as non-hazardous under Serbian and international regulations.
Extensive monitoring of surface water has confirmed that exploration activities have not caused pollution of local watercourses. No drilling has been conducted within the water catchment supplying Trnava village.
Local Community & Economic Contribution
Zlatna Reka Resources currently employs 60 citizens of Serbia, the majority from nearby communities. During peak exploration periods, approximately 50 additional local subcontractors are engaged, supporting more than 100 local families and contributing to regional economic activity.
Over the past six years, the Company has invested more than USD 200,000 in community initiatives, including support for local schools, cultural and sports organisations, reforestation projects, and community events.
The Company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance has been independently assessed by international experts, achieving strong results. Further details are available in the 2024 and 2025 Digbee ESG Assessments.
